Pottery Care

It is important to wash your pottery pieces with care. Your pottery items are dishwasher safe and are best placed on the top rack where possible. When placing in the dishwasher it is best that your pieces do not touch other items in the dishwasher. This is to prevent your piece from chipping. If you prefer to handwash your pottery, make sure you use a soft cloth and warm soapy water. 

Your new pottery piece has been mid fired, making it quite durable. It is still important to avoid sudden temperature changes. Thermal shock will, in most cases, cause your piece to crack. DO NOT put a cold piece that has been in the fridge directly into the microwave. DO NOT place your piece into a preheated oven. Instead place it into a cool oven then begin your cooking process. If you live in a cold climate, and your cups get cold in cupboards. It is best to put hot water in your mug and let it sit for a minute before pouring in your boiling beverage. 

If you chose to handle your pottery pieces with care, this includes during storage, you will receive many years of use.

Macrame Care

We take great care when packing up your order to avoid minimal disruption to your piece. If your piece has a fringe and is taped to cardboard with masking tape. Carefully remove the masking tape, then using a comb carefully brush the fringe.

Macrame Wall Hangings - These are delicate DO NOT put in washing machine or dryer. To remove a stain, you require a white damp cloth with mild detergent. DO NOT use bleach or any harsh chemicals. Dab the stain for 5 min or as long as needed. DO NOT rub the stain. This may cause fibres in the yarn to break and permanently damage your wall hanging. Let dry in a well-ventilated space, and not in direct sunlight. To remove dust, take your piece outside, and using a clean white soft cloth or clean duster, gently dust.

Smaller Macrame Items e.g., coasters - First dust off using the above method. Then place in washing machine using a mild washing detergent and set your machine on a delicate cycle. 

At she's knots we use natural or recycled cotton for our macrame wall hangings. Being a natural fibre, it can become a food source for pests. it is a good idea to take your hanging outside occasionally and give it a dust. DO NOT vacuum. You can also use a lint brush to remove dust particles.
